🐎 BHM: 2025 Holiday Gift Guide πŸŽ…πŸ½

I know...it's NOVEMBER 4th.

It's RIDICULOUSLY early to be talking about the holidays.

And yet, I've already had family members asking me for Christmas lists.

So, in an effort to help YOU, Reader, I've created the most epic 2025 Holiday Gift Guide for Broke Horse Moms, complete with kid gifts, trainer gifts and MOM gifts.

I released an episode earlier today going over all the products and how to best use this guide to make your life easier (Amazon wish lists, using our discount codes and MORE!), which I highly recommend you listen to FIRST.

Listen to the Broke Horse Mom Holiday Gift Guide episode:

Did you listen? If so....read on to get the guide in written form, with affiliate links when I was able to grab them, regular links when I was able to access them and discount codes for YOU!

GIFTS FOR THE RIDER πŸ‡πŸ»

Apparel suggestions (top to bottom)

  • Helmet - If it's time to upgrade, do it now so you can loop this pricey purchase into your holiday budget.
    • Be sure to take a trip to a tack shop for this one to make sure you get the right fit.
  • Jewelry - Earrings and necklaces are always a hit!
  • Fun horse sweatshirts β€” My BFF got Chloe a fan favorite a few years ago that says β€œSorry. Can’t. Horses. Bye.” Etsy is FILLED with horsey tops!

  • Long-sleeved riding shirts – The teens (possibly just mine) have an obsession with seamless riding shirts. In order of ridiculousness of cost, here are some of our faves:
  • A riding vest
    • I'm sure there are tons to be found at any on any of the equestrian apparel sites. That said, don't ignore your consignment shops. We found a quilted J. Crew vest at Uptown Cheapskate a year or so ago and it's served Chloe very well.
  • Ororo Heated Vest - apparently, it's a MUST and is top of the list at our house.

  • Show clothes
  • Winter breeches
  • Tall boots – Definitely buy in person unless you know the exact brand and size and your kiddo is done growing.

  • Muckboots for the barn: Xtratufs are my absolute fave!

Other gift ideas

  • Tack trunks – Husky brand, great for budget storage

  • Canvas print of a favorite pic from the year

'Horse' gifts (really, just more kid gifts)

  • Leather halter – Chloe likes the Suffolk brand at Dover

  • LeMieux set – saddle pad, halter, lead rope, ear bonnet, matching shirt - you name it, you can get it in a matching color

  • Saddle pads - embroidered, for a special touch

Stocking stuffers

  • Pinsnickety – pins, stickers, shirts

  • Horse treats - German Horse Muffins for the splurge!

  • Riding socks

  • Roeckl show gloves

  • Carhartt work gloves

  • No Knots Hairnets

  • Winter Headband

  • Tack trunk/grooming supplies - hoof picks, brushes, hoof oil
    • Ask your trainer what your kiddo will need and stock up on it now
  • Christmas ornament

  • Touchland (bougie!) hand sanitizer - bundled with the hopes that they'll one day use it

GIFTS FOR US πŸŽ‰

  • Xtratuf muck boots – perfect for muddy mornings at the barn and wet mornings on the show grounds

  • A GOOD winter coat (because we're not riding a horse so lessons are exponentially colder for us)
    • 32 Degrees brand - recommended by barn mate who has a floor length one
    • I love my Marmot jacket that I bought a few years ago - I don't know if I'll ever need another winter coat!
  • Winter hat - duh!

  • Carhartt work gloves

  • Jewelry – I love my horse necklace and horseshoe earrings!

  • Horse show shirts - tons of great sweatshirts and shirts on Etsy!

GIFTS FOR OUR TRAINERS ❀️

  • Hay 🀣

  • A stocking full of barn supplies: Double-ended snap hooks, scissors, sharpies, blanket tags

  • Jumps, pitchforks, nice broom

  • Gift cards to SmartEquine, Dover, Tractor Supply, etc

  • Spa, nail salon or massage gift card (ONLY if they'll actually use it)

  • Gift cards for favorite restaurants

  • Night away from the barn where the barn family will handle chores

  • Personalized barn swag

PHEW! That was quite a doozie! I do hope you'll find all of these ideas, links, and discount codes helpful. If you have questions about any of the items, shoot me a reply and either myself or Chloe can answer it!

And, if I missed a perfect gift for your favorite equestrian or YOU, let me know! I'll add it in!

Hi Reader, First off: It's SNOWING in Virginia! Which is gorgeous AND ALSO I know I'll be freezing at the barn later. Pro-broke horse mom tip: Pack your car with snacks, work, books, etc AND ALSO pack your coat and all your winter gear. I just got our replacement Carhartt winter gloves, linked in the Holiday Gift Guide, because WHY would be able to find the ones we used last winter?? My car packed for the barn in the winter is a combo of an office on wheels, a small pantry, and a coat closet....

Hi Reader, Today's episode of Broke Horse Moms might just be my favorite so far. One thing I've spent hours pondering and chatting about with friends, trainers, and non-horsey folks is just how expensive this sport is and how hard it is to step into it without any type of horsey background. πŸŽ™οΈ Affordability + Accessibility in the Horse World with Piper Klemm Enter....Dr. Piper Klemm, publisher and editor of The Plaid Horse Magazine, host of The Plaidcast podcast and a widely respected leader...

Hi Reader, If you’ve ever wondered whether all those early mornings, braiding marathons, and horse show bills could actually lead somewhere once your kiddo flies the coop, this week’s episode is for you. πŸŽ™οΈ NCAA Equestrian Journey w/Broke Horse Mom Elizabeth Howell My guest, Elizabeth Howell, is a lifelong horse mom whose daughter Samantha rode her way onto Baylor University’s NCAA equestrian team, with 66% of her tuition covered through scholarships by the end.
